Sadaqah Jariyah refers to voluntary charity that continues to benefit people over time, resulting in ongoing reward as long as that benefit remains.
It is commonly associated with long-term projects such as water access, education, healthcare, and community infrastructure.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“When a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three:
ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them.”
Sahih Muslim (1631)
Islam encourages both immediate acts of generosity and investments in ongoing good.
Some rewards are received once the action is completed, while others continue to accumulate as long as people benefit from the original contribution.
