When Mission Salaam works with vulnerable communities in Pakistan, Azad Kashmir, and Uganda, we see first hand that despite the challenges the communities face, their first thought, rather than help for themselves, is often a masjid for the community.
It is a beautiful reflection of their love for our Beloved Prophet ﷺ whose first act on arrival in Madinah after the hijrah, was the building of a Masjid at Qubaa.
That says something about the importance of a masjid in the life of a Muslim, and in a Muslim community. For a masjid is not just a building. It is the beating heart and spiritual centre of a Muslim community.
Why Build a Masjid?
When you donate a masjid, that masjid serves as:
A House of Worship: Host to daily congregational prayers, Friday prayers, taraweeh, qiyaam-ul-lail, i’tikaaf, and iftaar in Ramadan.
A Community & Educational Hub: A centre for Islamic talks, children’s Qur’an classes, weddings, funeral services, and a practical space for community meetings to resolve local issues.
Essential Welfare Support: A shaded sanctuary to just sit and reflect, a cool refuge with ceiling fans in extreme heat, clean running water for wudu, and in many locations, a safe drinking water access point for local families.
The Continuous Rewards of Sadaqah Jariyah
Building a masjid is one of the most effective forms of Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity). Your single contribution yields continuous rewards in this life and the next. Apart from every prayer, ruku and sajdah, every time a child learns an ayah, a worshipper makes dhikr, or acts on something they learned from a Friday khutbah (sermon) – such as showing mercy to animals or clearing clutter from a road – you also get the reward.
Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
”Whoever builds a masjid for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 450, Sahih Muslim 533)
Our Beloved Prophet ﷺ also stated:”When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity), knowledge which is beneficial, or a righteous child who prays for him.”
(Sahih Muslim 1631)
How Mission Salaam Delivers Your Mosque Project
Whether funding a new masjid build or a major mosque renovation, we maintain high structural and legal standards throughout:
But I can’t afford a full masjid upfront…
You can build a masjid in your own name, dedicate a build as Sadaqah Jariyah for parents or loved ones, or pool funds with family and friends as a collective effort. Mission Salaam understands that it is not always possible for people to pay the full amount upfront. Please contact us for more information on paying in a way that is manageable for you.
Renovations
You can also renovate an existing masjid that is in desperate need of repairs to make it safely functional again and aesthetically pleasing. There are many pre-existing masaajid that can no longer be used due to flood damage and general disrepair, compounded with lack of resources in the local community, still in need of extensive repairs, both in Uganda and in Pakistan. Your donation makes these masaajid useable again, and for the local communities, it as though someone has gifted them a masjid.
Take a look at our completed masjids
We encourage our donors (where this is possible for them) to visit the masjids they funded. Please let us know if you would like to visit, so that we can play our part in facilitating this for you.
Have a look at our gallery below to see completed mosques that our donors have already donated. We have more locations where communities are in desperate need of a masjid, so if you’re able to, please do donate a masjid today.
